The featured position descriptions below are provided as a sample of open positions in our internship program. But remember that Alliant offers a variety of other career focuses for interns and welcomes the opportunity to discuss the right fit for you.

Minimum qualifications for all internship positions include actively enrolled junior or senior in an accredited college (major must be related to position); good oral and written communication skills; good customer service skills, including telephone and listening skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office suite; good problem-solving and time-management skills; intermediate typing skills (30 to 35 wpm); and ability to work within a team and to foster teamwork.

Technical Assistant Intern (Entry-Level)

Assists senior staff with support; set up of prospect and customer files; set up and process of deal files; conduct miscellaneous filing
Operates fax machines, scanners, printers, and copiers
Assists service team with assembly of marketing materials, proposals, and presentations for prospects and customers
Inputs prospect and customer data into applications
Provides word processing assistance as required
May assist in support of inputting information into agency management system
Orders and prepares loss runs and motor vehicle reports as directed
Assists with maintenance of certificate holder list, process of insurance certificates, and other duties as assigned to support broker and service team

Assistant Account Representative Intern

Assists senior staff with review of policies for accuracy and/or possible deficiencies
Packages and markets applications to various carriers to obtain quotes as delegated
Assists service team members with assembly of marketing materials, proposals, and presentations for prospects and customers
Reviews correspondence to insured and/or underwriters
Assists with process for tracking claims
Inputs applications and word processes letters and other forms of correspondence, as directed
Assists with coordination of insurance binders or certificates
Looks up information in agency management system
Performs other duties as assigned to support broker and service team

Account Representative Intern

Supports Senior Account Representatives with strategy discussions with broker or supervisor for policy renewals
Packages and markets applications to various carriers to obtain quotes
Performs job shadowing/clerical support of price negotiation, commissions, and/or coverage with carrier, policy review, deficiency check, and assessment of appropriate level of coverage
Assists with renewal process for expiring policies
Coordinates review of client accounting history
Assists with accounting inquiries and addresses account discrepancies and collections on past due accounts
Performs job shadowing/clerical support to bind insurance coverage and prepare insurance binders
Assists with the preparation of presentations and/or proposals for clients
Gathers information and researches requests
Drafts correspondence and certificate templates for review and approval
Performs basic analysis of certificate requests and identifies client needs
Handles other duties as assigned to support broker and service team
